Located about 20 miles south of Denver, Colorado, the city of Castle Pines is a peaceful community that provides its 10,000 residents with an exceptional quality of life. The city is home to plenty of parks, trails, and other outdoor spaces, as well as a variety of amenities both enriching and entertaining.
Castle Pines (formerly Castle Pines North) was officially incorporated as a city of Douglas County in 2008, and since then, it has grown to become one of the best places to raise a family in Colorado. It’s easy to see why—a great location, beautiful scenery, and an abundance of engaging activities paint an attractive picture for young families looking to settle down.
The convenient location of Castle Pines allows easy access to I-25 and US-85, making it an excellent place for commuters and travelers alike. Getting to downtown Denver takes less than half an hour; to Colorado Springs, 45 minutes. Even better, driving is optional: the Lincoln Station light rail is just 7 miles north of the city. But even those who prefer to stay close to home will find ample opportunities for both work and play.
Castle Pines residents and visitors enjoy over 500 acres of open space and access to award-winning parks and recreational facilities, not to mention some truly spectacular golf courses, such as The Ridge and Castle Pines Golf Club. There are 14 miles of paved multi-use trails, great for biking, running, or taking a walk. In 2016, a coalition of Castle Pines and its neighboring towns finalized plans to create opportunities for recreation at Rueter-Hess Reservoir, which include camping, canoeing, fishing, and more.
Residents of Castle Pines are encouraged to participate in community events and activities, such as the Annual Run Wild races and color run. Plus, being close to Denver means a day trip to enjoy the Winter Brewfest or visit the Museum of Nature and Science is as simple as hopping on the highway. But Castle Pines is cultivating its own art and culture community, too, and recently a new branch of Douglas County Libraries opened to the public. With state-of-the-art facilities designed to foster creativity and learning, the library provides people with access to laptops and an extensive selection of materials for check-out.
It’s no wonder Castle Pines earned an A+ grade for livability on Niche. A careful balance of open space with commercial and residential development, a convenient location with proximity to major highways, and a lively community with countless things to do all make this city an ideal place to live.
