Get ready to put on your boots, grab your family and friends, and find out what our city has to offer. Here are seven of the best events in the metro area this October 2017.

WHERE: Butterfly Pavilion
Featuring three spooky special exhibits and even more special events, Bugtober! at the Butterfly Pavilion has something for folks of all ages. Hear from experts on bats, bugs, parasites, and discover how invertebrates can help solve real-life mysteries. Learning about creepy crawlies has never been this fun!
WHEN: Thursdays (21+), Fridays & Saturdays (all ages) through October 28
WHERE: Denver Zoo
Ever wondered how a velociraptor might look standing next to a rhinoceros? Wonder no more! This exhibit features 21 lifelike dinosaur statues scattered throughout the zoo. Enjoy the festive jack-o-lantern sculptures along with nightly entertainment and activities. Thursday nights are for adults only, and include fun dress-up themes (yes, there’s an 80s night) and a beer garden.
WHEN: Friday nights, Saturdays & Sundays through October 29
WHERE: Elitch Gardens
Elitch Gardens Amusement Park’s annual Fright Fest boasts one of the biggest Halloween events in Colorado. On weekends before 5 PM, bring your costumed kiddos for fun rides, special activities, and free candy on the Trick or Treat Trail. Once the sun goes down, however, prepare to be scared! From 5 ‘til close, older kids (12+) and grown-ups can explore the park’s three horrifying haunted attractions.
WHEN: October 6 – 15
WHERE: Ellie Caulkins Opera House
Colorado Ballet and the Colorado Ballet Orchestra present Dracula, based on Bram Stoker’s classic novel. Fall in love with this Gothic horror story for the first time or all over again as the tale of love, death, and revenge unfolds upon the stage. Due to mature content, this event is not recommended for children under the age of 12.
WHEN: October 7
WHERE: Skyline Park
Join the legion of the undead at Skyline Park for the 12th Annual Denver Zombie Crawl, which delivers a ghoulishly good time for all ages. There will be special effects makeup artists, discounts on local beer, a costume contest, and a rousing rendition of the dance from Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” And if you’re a nocturnal creature, don’t forget to check out the after parties: Stay Alive Block Party and Zombie Prom.

WHERE: McNichols Civic Center Building
Sample some of Denver’s finest cuisine and enjoy live entertainment at the Westword Feast. Guests will taste delicious food from dozens of restaurants bringing their best, and there will be plenty of beverages too—which is why this event is for adults aged 21 and up.

WHERE: Fox St. Compound
Hosted by the Denver Punk Rock Flea Market, this one’s for all the fans of weird and wacky things. From antiques to taxidermy, you never know what you might find. No matter what, it’s sure to amaze and thrill both young and old alike. Come get into the Halloween spirit at this authentically odd attraction.
